Meet our Counselors

Chris Mason A-G

Greetings from the Counseling Center! My name is Chris Mason I am one of the school counselors here at Chief Moses. I’ve been in Moses Lake for nearly 30 years but I grew up in Spokane. I have 7 sisters and 4 brothers which is probably the reason I became a school counselor because with 12 kids there was always a lot of talking in my house and being one of the youngest, my job was to listen. Yes, now I get paid to listen! How cool is that?

I graduated in Spokane from Rogers High school and went from there to Central Washington University for my undergraduate degree and then on to Gonzaga University where I earned an M.A. in Counseling Psychology.

While I love my work as a school counselor, I am also very fortunate to be a coach here at Chief Moses. I currently coach basketball and coach wrestling later in January and then finish the year coaching softball in the Spring.  If that isn’t enough to keep me busy, I am also the ASB Advisor where I get to help organize elections, assemblies, Executive Board meetings, and Rep Council meetings. Our goal in the ASB is to help create a school climate and culture that is safe, fun, and one where everyone is accepted.

I do love my job and I love the students and staff here at Chief Moses. Here at Chief Moses, we try and prioritize treating students as if they were our own, so if your son or daughter is struggling with any of the many facets of middle school, please let us know and we will do what we can to help them out.

GO BRAVES!!

Brodi -- The beautiful Chocolate Lab you see here is Brodi, our Therapy Dog!!  We are blessed to have a Therapy Dog at Chief Moses that is as awesome as Brodi.  If you haven't met Brodi yet, feel free to stop into the Counseling Center almost any morning and Brodi will be there to greet you!  He loves a good pet and a kind word for his owner, Mr. Mason :)

Krystal Trammell H-N

My name is Krystal Trammell and this is my fourth year as a counselor at Chief Moses Middle School..

The Columbia Basin is where I have always called home. Graduating from Warden High School and continuing my education at Big Bend Community, where I also played volleyball. My Bachelor’s Degree was earned from Eastern Oregon University where I completed my collegiate eligibility. GO MOUNTIES!!!

Following my time at Eastern Oregon, I worked in the social service field and enjoyed time spent with my clients. I then returned to school to complete my Master’s in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio, Texas.

It is a privilege to work with the students, parents, and staff at Chief Moses. I enjoy building relationships and working together as a team for each student. Their smiles brighten my day!

I have three children and my spare time is spent attending their school activities or baking. I am currently a volleyball coach at Moses Lake High School and look forward to many more years. I also have two cats, one dog, and a guinea pig!

Jason Gassman O-Z

My name is Jason Gassman. I am the counselor for students with last names beginning with O-Z.  I have been in Moses Lake for 10 years. This is my fourth year at CMMS. Previously, I was a school counselor in Seattle and before that in Spokane.  I graduated from Washington State University with an M.A. in Counseling Psychology. I recently became a National Board Certified Counselor.

I love being a school counselor and the many responsibilities that come with the job. My number 1 job is to be an advocate for the student. One of the perks of working in public education is the ability to work with students and families in many different settings. One of them is coaching. I coach 7th and 8th-grade football, 8th-grade basketball, and track.

I enjoy all of the outdoor activities the Pacific Northwest has to offer. I love spending time with family, friends, and my dog, Dorsett (He is an 8-year-old Boxer, named after Tony Dorsett. Yes, I am also a Cowboys fan). My favorite hobbies are fishing, golfing, boating, and playing and watching sports/games. I am die hard COUGS fan.

GO COUGS!

Bethany Groth

Welcome! I’m Bethany Groth, and this is my 8th year at Chief Moses Middle School. I moved to Moses Lake from Spokane nine years ago after meeting my now-husband, Craig. Together, we have the most adorable (call me biased) little boy named Preston. And of course, our family wouldn’t be complete without our two fur babies – a Husky named Duke (make no mistake, I love the dog NOT the team), and a mixed-breed named Jayce.

I was born and raised in a tiny little town called Omak and graduated from Washington State University in 2008. I’m the youngest (and only girl) of six siblings. I have lived in numerous cities across the state, but have grown to love Moses Lake as my home. My husband is an assistant Varsity basketball coach at MLHS, and a huge fan of the sport so we watch A LOT of basketball in our house! I love spending time with my family and friends or getting lost in a good book in my free time.

GO COUGS!!!
